What is Data Management/Transmission?

Old process was for each gaging station to have an inspection sheet. The operator would measure the part according to the check sheet/inspection sheet and then write the measurements in appropriate check. End of shift or at predetermined times, the operator would turn inspection sheet over to supervisor or Quality to enter the measurements electronically into a system or program to evaluate the measurements.

New process is to process electronically the measurements, collecting and sending analog and digital data from gauges to a collection system which can be used to evaluate the measurements.
